The objective of the "4th International Conference “Polar Climate and Environmental Change in the Last Millennium”, which will be held in Toruń on August 28–30, 2026, is to provide a comprehensive overview of current scientific understanding of climate and environmental changes in the polar regions over the past millennium. We welcome contributions based on instrumental measurements as well as a wide range of proxy data, including historical records, dendrochronological, paleolimnological, glaciological, geophysical, and geomorphological evidence.
The detailed topics of the conference include, among others:
-
sources of paleoclimatic information,
-
research methods for studying climate change in historical times,
-
the climate of polar regions over the last 1000 years and its variability,
-
causes and consequences of climate change in both historical and contemporary contexts,
-
as well as scenarios of climate change in polar regions in the 21st century.
