Dear Participants, Distinguished Keynote Speakers, and Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organising Committee of the 4th International Conference "Polar Climate and Environmental Change in the Last Millennium" (Toruń, 28–30 August 2026), we regret to inform you that, after careful consideration, the conference has been cancelled.
Despite extensive promotional and outreach activities conducted both in Poland and internationally, and despite the valuable support of our partners and invited speakers, the number of confirmed registrations has remained below the level required to ensure a successful and impactful event. Consequently, after discussion, the Organising Committee concluded that proceeding with the conference would not meet the objectives and standards originally envisioned for this gathering.
We fully recognise that some of you have devoted considerable time and effort to preparing for the conference. In particular, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to our distinguished keynote speakers for their willingness to contribute their expertise and knowledge to the programme. We deeply regret any inconvenience or disappointment that this decision may cause.
Please accept our heartfelt apologies and our appreciation for your interest, support, and commitment. We are especially grateful to all participants, authors, partners, and supporters who contributed to the preparations for this event.
Thank you for your understanding.
Yours faithfully,
The Organising Committee
